SOH Chosen Curricula
Social Responsibility Training (SRT™) Program
The SRT Program impacts how students view themselves, their relationships with others, and their decision making skills. The program is designed to develop a foundation of character while also helping students to build self-respect and learn the rewards that come from making positive choices.
- THE PROBLEM:
- 10.9% OF ALL AMERICAN YOUTH AGES 16-24 WERE HIGH SCHOOL DROPOUTS IN 2000.
- THE SOLUTION:
- SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY TRAINING (SRT™)
Currently, Services of Hope Entities, Inc. (SOH) has the only certified SRT™ coaches in the state of Texas. SOH has implemented the SRT™ curricula into all of its programs including the Grand Prairie Weed & Seed and the Dallas County Juvenile Justice After School and Intermediate Sanctions Programs.
SOH chose SRT™ curricula as the cornerstone of its programming because it is research-based, bilingual, is written on a 4th grade reading level, and has proven to be an effective school and after-school program. In fact, SRT™ curricula has been so successful it has been adopted, nationally, by the Department of Justice Weed & Seed Program. SRT™ is a successful school and community based prevention program designed to teach high-risk students, parents, and families about decision-making and life skills in a systematic class process that enhances responsibility and acts as a catalyst for behavioral growth.
Components of the program include drug and alcohol education, gang intervention and prevention, social skills, decision-making skills, general life skills, and how to overcome peer pressure.
- THE SRT™ MISSION
- Provide schools with cost-effective and research-based training, character development and life skill curricula and consulting to reduce dropouts, enhance student academic performance, and prepare students to be contributing members of society.
- DID YOU KNOW?
- The lifetime cost when one high-risk youth drops out of school is $1.3-$1.5 Million, and is a cost that affects that youth and everyone around him and her.
- THE OBJECTIVES
- 1. Help high-risk youth succeed in school and life.
2. Teach students to solve their own problems.
