This page is a brief overview of the services offered by Services Of Hope to families across Amarillo. We are faith based and serve the needs of families from a holistic perspective. Our program and services are different from most agencies in the following ways:

  2. We don’t require identification

  3. You can come weekly

  • We are excited to offer the “Healthy Food Box” program. We provide protein and misc. produce delivered by Services Of Hope into the hands of Amarillo families seeking assistance. The distribution network for these boxes consists entirely of Services Of Hope food pantry and a partnership with The Amarillo Area Black Chamber of Commerce. We want to accommodate the requests for help from other non-profits, schools, and smaller partners that are actively serving Low to Moderate income communities in need. Emergency food boxes are available.

  • We are excited to partner with the High Plains Food Bank to bring the “Healthy Senior Food Box” program. We have available commodities, protein and misc. boxes delivered to Amarillo Seniors. The contents of the boxes are all US domestic products and range across the spectrum of shelf stable and fresh produce products. These boxes are distributed by Services Of Hope – Amarillo and The Amarillo Area black Chamber of Commerce. Seniors are selected by application at High Plains Food Bank.

  • The pantry is held on the 3rd Saturday of each month. Information is distributed on our website, Facebook page, and Amarillo Needs Assistance type Facebook pages. Amarillo clients are notified by email and text of pantry dates and times. When a request is received, an emergency food basket is available. The items can range from canned goods to fresh fruit, vegetables, and prepared items.  Outside of normal pantry times every effort will be made to meet the family’s needs.

  • Services of Hope can help navigate for resources to help find Rental & Utility assistance from various sources and requires specific information. All documentation submitted is kept strictly confidential. These services are dependent on availability.

  • We provide housing counseling. Clients are referred to our local Hud Certified Counselor office in Amarillo. The cost of the program is free.

  • We refer clients to Panhandle Community Services to seek utility assistance.

  • The Redemption Grant Program is a Faith Based Dollar amount grant that is available to Low to Moderate Income families looking for Cash infusion to assist them during periods of Financial Crisis without causing even greater hardship. SOH offers these grants dollars to help the community bridge financial gaps as well as engage in traditional savings through our local bank Affiliate while expounding on Financial Education for the future.

  • SOH staff has been trained to assist guests and clients in registering for the snap program. This will allow them to sign up for all the services they qualify for at one time such as food stamps also known as SNAP, CHIP, and Medicaid. Please feel free to call for an appointment or visit 900 N. Senior Volunteer Program

 SOH has built a relationship with local seniors seeking an opportunity to put their skills to use to serve others.  

Help Finder Resource

SOH has accesses to a national database of programs and services which include all Federal, State, Nonprofit and Faith Based programs that provide social services by zip code.  This allows the clients to access services in their home zip codes, make appointments and on the spot referrals for services both text and email.  

Other Resources

There is a vast network of nonprofits and government agencies that can offer a wide range of assistance. If SOH is unable to assist with things such as housing, rental assistance and medical services, etc. we will refer to other agencies that can possibly offer immediate assistance.  

Annually:

  • MET- SOH-AMARILLO partners with MET to help low income and unemployed individuals aged 55+ to increase skills and build self-confidence, while earning a modest income.

  • Back to School Supplies – Each year school supplies are provided to help parents with the rising cost of preparing their children for a successful academic year. 

  • Thanksgiving | Martha Bridgewater Nickerson Foundation 

    -A special program celebrating the blessings of the seasons with a distribution of the items needed for a family to prepare their holiday meal. It will include a turkey (or hens), fruit, vegetables.

    Christmas | Martha Bridgewater Nickerson Foundation

    – A special program celebrating the joyful holiday season.. The families will receive food to help prepare their holiday meal. This will help the families enjoy the holiday season and allow them to stay on track with their on-going financial obligations. A limited number of grandparents, 65+, will have an opportunity to shop for Christmas gifts.
